Sometimes You Just Need a Rest Day

…or a rest month from blogging. It has been FOR-EVER since I’ve posted anything on here, and I don’t really have a great explanation as to why that is. I don’t want to make excuses, but since I’ve been in Orlando for the summer, I have been busy. Like, really really busy, haven’t-had-time-to-even-read-my-book-or-catch-up-on-tv-shows kind of busy.

You see, I am working full time (or almost full time – 36 hours a week) at my internship. This opportunity sort of fell into my lap at the last minute, and since starting on May 18, I have been a busy girl. I am now even more in awe of all you awesome bloggers out there who work full time AND blog often. Seriously, you are amazingggg!

Thankfully, I have been great about working out, and my eating has been decent. I haven’t been neglecting healthy living, just the blog.

I’m now in the process of trying to figure out what I want my blog to be, if I even want to continue it, etc. I’m almost certain that I DO want to continue, because I have really missed blogging and the awesome community! I’ve barely even had time to read my favorite blogs lately, which is so not cool.

Balance is key, and is actually my “word for the year.” So right now I’m trying to find my balance again, since having a full time position has certainly thrown it off quite a bit.

On that note, I have to run to a doctor’s appointment…after which I have to go in to work for a half day. I’ll leave you with a photo of Steph and I in downtown Orlando the other week…Smile with tongue out

I really miss you guys, and appreciate the whopping 3 people who have been still checking my blog daily. No worries, I am still alive and kickin’!

Bad Blogger

I have been having major blogger guilt lately, due to the fact that I have SO been neglecting the blog! I’ve been all over the place with no routine, and actually pretty busy with not a lot of down time!

When I got to Orlando on Tuesday, Steph and I spent time catching up before eating dinner. It was “clear out the fridge” night, so I had a random mish mash of food thrown into a tortilla. In the mix was broccoli, edamame, matchstick carrots, cheese, and salsa. It was pretty darn random but also pretty darn delicious!

The rest of the night was spent getting fro yo and watching Ever After. Smile

Yesterday we slept in and then spent most of the day by the pool playing with the dogs! Steph is watching her boyfriend’s great dane for the week, and they just got a new puppy – in addition to the 12 year old dog they already have! So we have a doggie full house right now, which means I’m in heaven! They are so cute and fun! I put a picture of Molly (the puppy) on twitter…that face just makes ya melt!

My other big event of yesterday was signing up for my summer gym membership! My family has been a member of the YMCA pretty much my entire life, including when they lived in Orlando. Of course the membership was canceled when they moved in January, so I had to re-sign up for one! It’s $31 a month, since I’m under 23, and I can cancel any time. Not too shabby!

Last night we went out to Amigo’s for dinner with Steph, her two sisters and her mom. It was nice! Steph and I split a burrito with black beans, guac, queso, and lettuce. I also had my fair share of chips and salsa, so I was pretty darn full by the time we were done.

It was our friend Kyle’s 21st last night so we went out with a few friends to celebrate that occasion! It ended up being a lot of fun, and I got to get my groove on, which is always a good thing in my book! A few pics…

So overall, yesterday was fun and eventful!

Today I had an interview, which went really well I think. Fingers crossed! When I got home I changed and went to the gym, and boy oh boy did it feel great! I ran two miles in 19 minutes, did 20 minutes of weights, and finished up with 20 minutes on the elliptical. I’ve been a major gym slacker the last couple of weeks, so it felt really nice to get back to it!

Sorry this post is so wordy! I guess that’s what happens when you’re a bad blogger! Hope everyone is doing AWESOME! Open-mouthed smile

What’s something that made you smile today?

Puppy. Enough said! Smile

Pomp and Circumstance

I can now officially say that I am a college graduate! It’s hard to believe – my time here at UF has absolutely flown by! Being finished is bittersweet, but I am coming back next Fall to finish up my Master’s, so it’s not too bitter just yet! Winking smile

My weekend has been fabulous! Meghan’s sisters were both in town for Gator stompin’, along with a few of our other friends. The weather ended up being pretty terrible, and it poured most of the night, but we still had a blast!

Friday we spent most of the day lounging on the couch watching Royal Wedding footage! Kate looked so pretty, but I think it would sort of stink to get married that way – everything was so formal and official, it seemed like they couldn’t really enjoy the ceremony.

I also did a little cap decorating….

My parents came into town around 5:00pm, and took me, my roommates, and some friends out to dinner at a place called The Gelato Company. They have a vegetarian panini that is to die for, so I was more than game to go there!

Oh, and did I mention you get free gelato with your meal if you order a drink?

ufjryear 489

Yeah, The Gelato Company is definitely a winner. I got half New York cheesecake and half mint chocolate chip. They even put a complimentary cookie in there for me!

After dinner we came back to my house and played games, ate cookies, enjoyed a few “beverages” and laughed – a LOT! It was such a wonderful night with great people, and I feel so lucky that I got to celebrate my graduation with all of them!

Today was the actual big day, but my ceremony didn’t start until 2:00pm, so I had plenty of time to sleep in, get ready, and take pictures!

Whew! The actual ceremony was not too bad – it got a little boring about half way through the calling of names, but thankfully I had my phone and my iPod touch to entertain me!

I actually spotted Julie in the crowd during the ceremony, and tweeted her telling her to look for me! We waved at each other, and I actually ran into her after the ceremony as well! It was so awesome to meet her, and she was just as beautiful and sweet in person as she is on the blog. Smile

Tomorrow I have to finish packing, and then I’m off to Savannah with my parents for a week or so before I return to Orlando for the summer! Woohoo!

I’m off to bed – it has been a loooooong (but extremely fun-filled) past couple of days! Goodnight!

I’m Going to Pee My Pants!

Okay, so that title is slightly inappropriate? BUT SERIOUSLY I AM SO EXCITED!!! Why? Many many manyyy reasons!

Yesterday I figured out some big life plans, and let’s just say I am SUPER pumped for the second half of 2011 – IT.WILL.BE.AMAZING! But I’ll save that for another post. Gotta keep the mystery alive, ya know?

So why am I super excited for TODAY in particular?!

First of all, my roommate from last year, Claire, is coming into town today! I haven’t seen her since October-ish, so I cannot wait. She’s my roommate Meghan’s older sister, and I love her to pieces, and miss living with her a lot. When all of us reunite things get crazy, and I know tonight will be no different because….

IT’S GATOR STOMPIN’!!!!!

What the heck is Gator Stompin’?

“It has been a right of passage in Gainesville for over 29 years and was rated by the Independent Florida Alligator as one of the Top 10 Things to do before leaving UF. The event t-shirt gets you into 50 bars, nightclubs, and restaurants from midtown to downtown. Celebrate being part of the Gator Nation with delicious food, amazing drinks, live music and over $5,000 in sponsored prizes.”

So basically, you wear the shirt, and get into TONS of places for free, and then you use those little tokens to get a drink/food/enter contests etc.

A HUGE group of us went last year, and it was honestly one of the BEST nights of my college life, hands down. I’m hoping this year can live up to that!

Last year:

Open-mouthed smile

So that, my friends, is why I am SO excited that I’m going to pee my pants. I hope you understand!

Dinner last night consisted of roasted broccoli and sweet potatoes, with a generous dollop of sour cream on the side. I have been eating quite crappy lately (I blame the end of the semester) so it was nice to get some veggies in my system!

GALS 354

Currently I am sippin’ on this baby – Stash chai tea – and catching up on blog reading.

To end this post, I’ll give you a clue as to what some of my SUPER exciting news for the 2nd half of 2011 is:

Any guesses?Winking smile

Toga Toga Toga!

This week has been SO busy! Between celebrating birthdays, doing homework, going out, and trying to sleep I feel like I haven’t had a second to update the good ol’ blog!

Saturday

Yesterday was a veryyy fun day from beginning to end! It was Jacki’s 22nd birthday, so we grilled out and laid out in our yard with some friends. After we ate, everyone was extremely hot, so we decided to sneak over to one of the nearby apartment pools! Our ninja sneakiness skills paid off, and we spent the rest of the afternoon lounging by/in the pool. Good friends, a pool, nice weather…what more can you ask for?!

After returning home and showering, we plopped on the couch to watch the movie Due Date. I thought it had some really funny parts, but was a little over-hyped. After the movie I snuck in a 20 minute power nap, and then it was off to Jacki’s birthday dinner!

We ended up going to a Japanese steakhouse nearby called Sawamura. The décor was nice, and the atmosphere was cozy. It is the kind of place where your chef cooks in front of you on a huge grill. I ended up ordering the vegetables, since that was the only vegetarian option. I got a HUGE portion though, along with a starter salad, and fried rice. It was all really good, and I had about half of my meal boxed up for leftovers.

Now for the most exciting part of yesterday…TOGA!!! Every spring, the rugby team has a huge toga party. Last year Jacki and I were supposed to go but stuff came up and we wound up not making it. This year we were making it there no matter what!

ufjryear 394

We bought fabric and made our own togas, which turned out pretty darn well if I do say so myself!

The night was a blast!!! And I can now cross “Toga Party” off of my non-existent “Things To Do In College” list! Winking smile

A toga collage for your viewing pleasure:

Whew! So that sums up my yesterday…back to regularly scheduled programing tomorrow! Oh and since this is a food-ish blog…here’s a picture of a delish dinner I made Friday night:

ufjryear 385

It’s brown rice, black beans, roasted broccoli, orange bell pepper, onions, and asparagus. So.Yummy!!!

Today I have been being a major bum, aka sitting on the couch and watching movies! In fact, I think Shiv and I are going to go see a movie in a bit! Hey, at least I’ll be off the couch! Winking smile Hope everyone had a great weekend!!!
