House Hunters and Alliteration

A little recap of yesterday…

My mom and I had a pretty busy day! We left the apartment around 8:30 to drive  to another part of town to meet the realtor. We ended up looking at six or seven houses, which is exhausting business! We saw some cool ones, including my favorite – a log cabin!!! It felt so home-y and cozy in there, plus it had a fire place that was to die for! Unfortunately, it was right next to a major road and a gas station, which is kind of a no go for real estate. BOO!

On the way back from house hunting, we stopped by the Toyota dealership. As you probably know, Toyota has had quite a few recalls, and my car fell under one of them. We took the letter in and in 40 minutes they had replaced the (potentially) bad part, free of charge! Woohoo!

By the time we got home we were tired and hungry, so as usual, I went with something quick and easy – Pesto Pasta Primavera! (How’s that for alliteration!)

I made some whole wheat noodles while chopping up green peppers and onion. I also threw some frozen peas and broccoli florets into a skillet to cook, and added in some of the leftover roasted cauliflower from Monday night as well. After everything was done cooking, I threw it into a big bowl and coated it with pesto. TaDa! Dinner came together in a little over ten minutes, and tasted fantastic!

Today

Today began with an 8 a.m. wake up call (this is early for me haha) to go on a run with my mom! Well, she was going to walk and I was going to run. We headed over to the trail that is behind the YMCA here, and we were off! I ran around the trail two times (2 miles) and then back tracked for about a half a mile to meet up with mom. We then walked home, so all in all I think I got in about 3 miles of running/walking. Not a bad way to start the day!

When we got back to the apartment, I decided to wash my car (!!!) It was really dusty when we bought it, but now it’s sparkling and beee-you-tee-full!!! LOVE IT!

For breakfast I made a green smoothie with:

  • a large handful of spinach
  • 1/2 cup frozen blueberries
  • 1 frozen strawberry (all that was left Sad smile )
  • 1 scoop chocolate protein powder
  • 1 cup of almond milk

It was very tasty! I’m so happy to have chocolate protein powder back in my life – I definitely prefer it over vanilla!

Now I’ve gotta run because mom and I are going to Target and the mall. What a life! Smile

Packing is the Pits!

Happy Earth Day!!! Did you know that you can get FREE coffee or tea at Starbucks today if you bring in a reusable tumbler? SO SWEET! I haven’t made it there yet, but I fully intend to!

Yesterday was my official last day of class! My last “obligation” of the year is an online exam on Tuesday! Woohoo.

That means I finally have a free day today. How am I spending it? Cleaning and packing! Rawr. My room is an absolute disaster right now…why does it always seem that when I’m cleaning, things get a WHOLE lot messier before they get clean?

Packing has to be one of my least favorite activities. This time it’s particularly challenging because I have to figure out what I need to send home with my parents for good, what I will need here at school next semester but NOT this summer, and what I need to bring with me to Steph’s/Orlando this summer! Talk about overwhelming.

Around one I broke for lunch, which ended up being a green smoothie in a bowl. Into the bullet went:

  • a handful of spinach
  • a handful of frozen blueberries
  • 3 frozen strawberries
  • 2/3 scoop of vanilla protein powder
  • 1/4 cup of dry oats
  • a dash of strawberry extract

I let the bullet do it’s thing, and ended up with this lovely number:

It looked like gray sludge, but tasted like heaven!

I’m pretty sure I’m taking today off workout-wise, because I did total body yesterday and am still pretty darn sore. I upped my weights some, and I can definitely feel it today!

Back to the chaotic mess that is my bedroom – bye for now!!!

A Picture’s Worth 1,000 Words

I had a genius idea the other day – I can take a picture of my workout summary with my ipod! So here are my totals for today’s interval workout on the treadmill:

  • Min 0-3: 7.0 incline, 4.0 pace
  • 3-22: 1.5 incline, 9.0 pace for 30 seconds, 3.8 pace for 30 seconds
  • 22-23: 2.0 incline, 8.0 pace
  • 23-24: 2.0 incline, 7.0 pace
  • 24-25: 2.0 incline, 6.0 pace
  • 25-30: 1.5 incline, 9.0 pace for 30 seconds, 3.8 pace for 30 seconds
  • 30-34: Cool down 1.0 incline, 3.5 pace

Whew! I know I’ve said it a hundred times, but I’ll say it again – I loveee intervals! And they make the time fly by.

I have plans to go my regular yoga class with Ang at 4pm, and I’m really excited about it! I’ve missed my awesome teacher!

Now I’m enjoying my classic green smoothie, which has spinach, milk, frozen strawberries, chocolate protein powder, and a dash of cocoa powder in it. Yum! Hope everyone is having a great Wednesday! 🙂

YogaBLAHtes

I’m sorry to say that today was ANOTHER ridiculous sleep in day. I blame my book which kept me up into the wee hours! After hitting snooze on my alarm quite a few times, I had to rush through breakfast and book it to the gym for my 11:45 total body class. I had a Voskos vanilla bean honey greek yogurt and a BIG glass of water. Bo-ringgg.

Workout

Total body kicked my butt and made me supaaa sweaty, as always. I seriously loveeee that class, and my muscles will never get used to it because every instructor does different moves using different equipment. Perfect!

What was not so perfect was my yogaBLAHtes class I took after total body. (aka yogalates) It was with a different instructor than I usually take, and I just was NOT feelin’ it! I wanted to get a really great stretch, and that did not happen. Lesson learned: I’ll be sticking with my usual instructor from now on!

Once I arrived home from the gym I was hungry! I had a small bowl of brown rice salad, and a green smoothie that included:

  • spinach
  • peaches
  • strawberries
  • vanilla protein powder
  • unsweetened almond milk

It was deeeelish! I really liked the peach/strawberry combo!

So that is my smoothie…but also a showcase of my freakish yellow obsession. Plus my ipod case and my headband may or may not be yellow…and look at the background of my blog…ok. Yellow overload! 🙂

Now I’m off to read my book in the sun for the remainder of the afternoon, before gettin’ down to work and then hopefully doing something f-u-n tonight! Hope everyone is having a great Saturday!

A Loser Like Me

I am TOTALLY obsessed with this song right now! I don’t even watch Glee, but saw that it was number one on itunes, so I had to get it. In the three days I’ve had this song, it has only grown on me more and more. It’s so darn catchy!

I definitely rocked out to this song a few million times while doing my treadmill intervals today! I completed 30 minutes of intervals, sprinting at a 9.0 pace for 30 seconds, followed by a 30 second recovery at a 3.8 speed. I kept the incline at 1.5 for both intervals. This workout felt a little easier than usual today – maybe because I haven’t done treadmill intervals in a couple of weeks? Who knows! I ended my workout with an easy 15 minutes on the elliptical reading a supaaaa old edition of Real Simple magazine.

Speaking of being a loser…I got a nice reminder today that I am, in fact, not one! Haha, Julie at Peanut Butter Fingers wrote an awesome post today about steering clear of the “comparison trap.” It boils down to the fact that we are each own person, and we are each pretty freakin’ cool in our own way. Amen to that! 🙂

Today’s food breakdown:

Breakfast – Voskos honey greek yogurt with 1/2 an apple and cinnamon

Lunch – green smoothie with blueberries, almond milk, spinach, and a little sweetener + the other 1/2 of my apple + some brown rice salad

Dinner – Basically I snacked my way through dinner. I had some tortilla chips with a corn/salsa/sour cream mixture, a cup of tea, a cookie, and a bowl of ice cream with cookie dough. Wow, real nutritious, huh?

Good thing I got a great workout in today! Tomorrow I have plans to go to total body and possibly a yoga class as well. It’s been a few weeks since I’ve been to my regular yoga class, and my body is missing it for sure! It’s just screaming to be stretched out and realigned!

This is me, my brother, and my awesomely amazing aunt Gi. We were out at a restaurant in little Italy in Boston, celebrating my birthday over the summer. It was a great night. 🙂

A Pretty Breakfast & More Intervals

After sleepin’ in until 11:00, I made breakfast to go, and took it to my meeting with me. I got more than one comment about how delicious/pretty it looked! I combined a Voskos honey greek yogurt with strawberries, a kiwi, and oats. This was a definite winner!

Workout

My workout today was my hour-long total bodyclass. I was feeling kind of lazy, but that feeling immediately faded when I found out we were doing circuits for the class! The instructor had set up 15 stations, and we did each station for one minute. Some stations included lunges, moutain climbers, shoulder presses, planks, biceps, triceps, and hamstrings, among other things. We went through the entire circuit twice, and then did it one more time with only 20 seconds at each station. It was a gooood workout for sure! The air conditioning was broken, so the room was MUCH hotter than usual, which means I was probably even sweatier than usual. ICK!

Post-workout I had a green smoothie, with unsweetened almond milk, loads of spinach, frozen blueberries, and a scoop of vanilla protein powder.

Dinner

Dinner tonight was kind of random. Meghan made couscous ricotta cakes, which was a mix of peppers, onions, garlic, couscous, ricotta, flour, and egg baked into a little cake. They were pretty tasty! I also roasted the remainder of my brussel sprouts, and had a clementine on the side.

By the way, I ate 3 of those cakes, not just one! 😛

For my snack I had a cup of chai tea and a couple brownies. Mmmm. Now I’m relaxin’ with my roomies, watching the Bachelor finale! Who will win?! I want Emily to, but I think he’s going to end up picking Chantal. We’ll see!
