Excitement’s in the Air!

Sorry I’ve been M.I.A. this weekend! I’ve been busy lazy, and haven’t gotten around to posting! Let’s do a little recap, shall we?


I went to total body, and the class ended up being taught by my favorite instructor! She really kicked my butt, and I loved every second of it! After my workout, me, Meghan, and Ang hit up the mall so I could look for a graduation dress. I looked in a few stores, but nothing stuck out to me, so I’m still dress-less at the moment!

After the mall we ran to Wal-Mart to pick up some necessities. My “necessities” included cucumber melon body wash, apples, cake batter ice cream, and my new favorite purchase – BANANA EXTRACT! I am in L-O-V-E!

As I mentioned before in this post, I am allergic to bananas. Crying face So.Sad. However, I can still eat fake, banana flavored things. Enter banana extract – fake banana flavor in a bottle, and I LOVE it! I’ve been putting in in stuff all weekend, including milkshakes, smoothies, and just plain glasses of milk. YUM.

For dinner we went to one of our favorite local restaurants – Bahn Thai. Meghan and I split an order of the chicken less pad Thai, because their portions are HUGE.

I scarfed down two portions of this + a home made milkshake + a few Oreos. I was kicking myself by the end of the night, because I ended up with a major food baby and a sugar coma. ICK.


Saturday was pretty uneventful. I spent most of the day reading my book, Game of Thrones. It’s getting REALLY good, so I easily lost myself in it for a few hours.

When Ang asked if I wanted to go to the gym, I almost declined in favor of reading. Then I realized I should stop being a bum, and that I would feel much better if I got a workout in, so I went. It ended up being a great workout, and I finally did some cardio! It’s been far too long. I spent 25 minutes working up a sweat on a spin bike, followed by 12 minutes of intervals on the treadmill. I ended with some arm exercises. It definitely felt good to do some cardio!

For dinner, I had leftover pad Thai, roasted broccoli, and grilled red peppers and onions. Three of my absolute favorite foods on one plate? WINNER!

Today was a very exciting day for me!

It started out with some quality reading time, followed by some more errand running with Meghan. While we were out, I made another fantastic purchase….


I was beyond pumped for this thing, and immediately made some iced Chai tea to put in it when we got home. My tumbler and I are already bff’s – it’s loveeeee.

At 7:30, I had an event that I’ve been waiting for for nearly a year now…

The David Sedaris book reading/signing!!!

If you don’t know who David Sedaris is, I highly recommend that you ch-ch-check him out!

My sister got me his book Me Talk Pretty One Day when I was 14, and I have been obsessed with him ever since. He is absolutely hilarious, and I constantly laugh out loud while reading his books.

Anyway. I found out almost a year ago that he was coming to UF on April 17, and was SO EXCITED. I bought my ticket months ago, and have been looking forward to this day. He did not disappoint. He read a few stories from his books, a new story he has been working on, some entries from his personal journal, and then took questions. He was just as hilarious in person as he is in writing, and I loved every second of it! Unfortunately, I did not get him to sign my book after because the line was SO LONG. It’s okay though, because I’m sure I’ll be seeing him read again as soon as I get the chance! Smile 

After the book reading, the excitement continued….You see, HBO made a series out of my book! (Game of Thrones) The series started tonight, so as soon as I got home from the reading, I hopped on the couch to watch 60 minutes of non stop drama. There was love, betrayal, beheading, puppies, incest, hot men, and castles. You’re intrigued now, aren’t you?! Winking smile I made my roommates watch with me, and I think they’re hooked!

Oh, one last bit of excitement – my cousin Claire, who recently got engaged, asked me to be a bridesmaid! I was totally not expecting that, but I am so excited and honored that she wants me to be a part of her big day! Of course I said yes! The wedding is not for quiteeee a while (like, 2 years) but I’m still really pumped!

That was officially the longest post EVER, so you get a gold star if you made it all the way through! Hope everyone else had a grand weekend!



Spontaneous Sweat Sesh

You know how I said I was getting back on the workout grind tomorrow? Well I lied…and got back on it toNIGHT! Woohoo. As the title says, I had a spontaneous sweat sesh because Ang was going to the gym and I tagged along. I did 20 minutes of hard intervals on the treadmill (similar to this workout) and then walked for 10 minutes to cool down.

Although it wasn’t the longest workout, it sure felt good to sweat, especially when I had already written today off as a non-gym day. 🙂

Today was fun and relaxing! I tossed my homework aside in favor of more fun activities. First up on the list? The movies!


Shiv, Ang, and I went to see Limitless with Bradley Cooper. The premise is that a starving writer takes a mystery pill that helps him access 100% of his brain. It was definitely an interesting movie – I liked it a lot! It got me thinking about how cool it would be to be able to reach your true maximum potential, and remember everything you ever saw/heard/read/etc. (Not that I encourage taking drugs to do so, haha) If you get a chance, I think this movie is worth a watch!

Next up on the agenda was running stadiums with Ang! I don’t know if this exactly counts as a fun activity (more like torturous) but it was certainly a great workout! We ran to the stadium (which is a little over a mile), did four sets of stadiums, ran up a HUGE incline/loop thing, and then ran home. All in all, we were gone for about 55 minutes. It was a lot like an interval workout, and you know I dig those!

For dinner I made a two egg omelet with green peppers, onions, corn, and cheese. I also had a Kashi blueberry waffle on the side. Breakfast for dinner is always a winner! (I didn’t even mean for that to rhyme…guess I’m a poet and didn’t know it 😉 ) Looks like my dinner isn’t the only thing that’s corny! 😛

For dessert I had a bowl of cookies and cream frozen yogurt topped with some cookie dough. I am both happy and sad to say that the giant tub of cookie dough that Meghan brought back after spring break is officially gone. I may or may not have eaten 3/4 of it! Eeek.

I’m off to watch a movie and maybe work on some assignments. What a poppin’ Friday! 😛

p.s. I saw this article today, and found it pretty interesting! I like where Denmark’s head is at…I would LOVE a free gym membership that I’d only have to pay for if I didn’t go!

I had a genius idea the other day – I can take a picture of my workout summary with my ipod! So here are my totals for today’s interval workout on the treadmill:

  • Min 0-3: 7.0 incline, 4.0 pace
  • 3-22: 1.5 incline, 9.0 pace for 30 seconds, 3.8 pace for 30 seconds
  • 22-23: 2.0 incline, 8.0 pace
  • 23-24: 2.0 incline, 7.0 pace
  • 24-25: 2.0 incline, 6.0 pace
  • 25-30: 1.5 incline, 9.0 pace for 30 seconds, 3.8 pace for 30 seconds
  • 30-34: Cool down 1.0 incline, 3.5 pace

Whew! I know I’ve said it a hundred times, but I’ll say it again – I loveee intervals! And they make the time fly by.

I have plans to go my regular yoga class with Ang at 4pm, and I’m really excited about it! I’ve missed my awesome teacher!

Now I’m enjoying my classic green smoothie, which has spinach, milk, frozen strawberries, chocolate protein powder, and a dash of cocoa powder in it. Yum! Hope everyone is having a great Wednesday! 🙂

A Loser Like Me

I am TOTALLY obsessed with this song right now! I don’t even watch Glee, but saw that it was number one on itunes, so I had to get it. In the three days I’ve had this song, it has only grown on me more and more. It’s so darn catchy!

I definitely rocked out to this song a few million times while doing my treadmill intervals today! I completed 30 minutes of intervals, sprinting at a 9.0 pace for 30 seconds, followed by a 30 second recovery at a 3.8 speed. I kept the incline at 1.5 for both intervals. This workout felt a little easier than usual today – maybe because I haven’t done treadmill intervals in a couple of weeks? Who knows! I ended my workout with an easy 15 minutes on the elliptical reading a supaaaa old edition of Real Simple magazine.

Speaking of being a loser…I got a nice reminder today that I am, in fact, not one! Haha, Julie at Peanut Butter Fingers wrote an awesome post today about steering clear of the “comparison trap.” It boils down to the fact that we are each own person, and we are each pretty freakin’ cool in our own way. Amen to that! 🙂

Today’s food breakdown:

Breakfast – Voskos honey greek yogurt with 1/2 an apple and cinnamon

Lunch – green smoothie with blueberries, almond milk, spinach, and a little sweetener + the other 1/2 of my apple + some brown rice salad

Dinner – Basically I snacked my way through dinner. I had some tortilla chips with a corn/salsa/sour cream mixture, a cup of tea, a cookie, and a bowl of ice cream with cookie dough. Wow, real nutritious, huh?

Good thing I got a great workout in today! Tomorrow I have plans to go to total body and possibly a yoga class as well. It’s been a few weeks since I’ve been to my regular yoga class, and my body is missing it for sure! It’s just screaming to be stretched out and realigned!

This is me, my brother, and my awesomely amazing aunt Gi. We were out at a restaurant in little Italy in Boston, celebrating my birthday over the summer. It was a great night. 🙂
